Buckinghamshire Grammar Schools
All the thirteen Buckinghamshire grammar schools are academies and therefore their own admissions authorities, however they have maintained a coordinated selection system using a common secondary transfer test to select pupils for entry into all Buckinghamshire grammar schools at 11+ each year. As a result, children wishing to attend one of the 13 grammar schools in Buckinghamshire need to sit the same Secondary transfer Test (commonly known as the 11+) in September at the start of Year 6. Buckinghamshire grammar schools operate on the basis that anyone who obtains a standardised score of 121 or more is eligible (but not guaranteed) a place at Buckinghamshire Grammar School. A score higher than 121 does not increase the chance of gaining a place as Buckinghamshire does not operate a system of ranking scores above 121 for entrance purposes. Parents will need to refer to the admissions criteria for each Grammar school to understand their specific policies.
